What if I told you I love you before you
left, would things be different between us?
Realization is masked by regret. We think we
have come to a realization but the truth of the matter is that we regret not
doing what we have wanted done or achieved. We feel sorry and pity ourselves
for what could have been but nowhere are we ready to accept our failure to act
on our gusto. We always dwell on the past thus allowing us to forget the
importance of our present in relation to our future.
The essence of life is not only about “who I
am” now but also how I was in the past and how would I be in the future. My
past is as important as my present and my future and vice versa. All three
(3)-time periods are important in my quest for self-realization.
If you look it up on the dictionary, the word
realization would merit a simple definition such as a “coming to an
understanding of something so clearly and distinctly”. It could also appertain to “giving
something the appearance of a reality or thinking of it as real”. Any way you
understand it, it cores upon the idea that when you come to a realization, you
think of it as true and regret not having the courage to act on it.
In the above mentioned scenario, the
frustration and regret of “not doing it” is the same as “not having the courage
to do it”. How courageous you may appear to be, it does not guaranty you that
everything you aspire, aim and hope for would be acted upon. At times, you are
too caught up within our sphere perfect fairytale that you think you can do it all.
However, in reality, we have to take due consideration of a number of factors
before we can act and do want we want. Due consideration is exemplified by our
compassion for others and how they would react given the circumstances.
Timing – it has always been about doing the
right things at the right time. Pursue if you must but also be mindful of the
endless possibilities that come with it.
Be aware of the probable consequences that you might encounter. For
every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction that might make or break
you as an individual.
